Who is Storypoint Church?
Storypoint Church1 is a local church in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Their congregation is made up of people from all walks of life. They seek to be a place where imperfect people can have an encounter with a perfect God and not feel condemned. Their mission is to love God, do good, and tell the Story. They actively serve in various places around their community.
The Challenge of Filling All the Marketing Needs at a Church
Storypoint Church was in need of website development and marketing support. Their communications pastor was moving on to a new role, and they needed someone who could come in and manage the website, social media, and Google Business Listing, and design graphics and flyers. They also wanted to expand their reach in the community, bringing more families into their church.
Why Jeff Chose For the Good Marketing
Jeff Spooneybarger, Lead Pastor of Storypoint Church, was talking about his need for marketing and website support at the Church.
They couldn’t afford to hire a full-time marketing staff position, but they also wanted someone who was highly skilled in digital marketing and understood the church context.
That’s when a mutual connection mentioned For the Good Marketing2 to Jeff. Jeff met with Leah from For the Good Marketing, as well as several other marketing agencies. After evaluating all of his options, Jeff chose to partner with For the Good Marketing.
This would provide Storypoint Church with the marketing strategy and support of an entire marketing department, without having to pay the cost of an in-house marketing department, with a company who was deeply familiar with the church context.
How For the Good Marketing Responded
Once For the Good Marketing and Storypoint Church began working together, the first step was to make significant design updates and restructure the website.
Easter was about a month away, and they wanted the website optimized in time for Easter weekend.
Over the next month, For the Good Marketing gave a large refresh to Storypoint’s website, and launched a full-scale Easter Marketing campaign, including a landing page, social media ad campaign, promotional materials, social media strategy, and email marketing.
Developing Their Online Presence, Engaging Members, and Reaching Local Families
After this, the focus shifted to building up Storypoint Church’s online presence. Marketing campaigns were done for various events throughout the year.
Jeff also mentioned his desire to have a streamlined, easy way for church members to sign up for upcoming events, and know how to get more involved in their church.
We incorporated software3 into the website specifically made for churches, that optimizes the user experience for event sign-ups. We also built out pages for Planning a Visit, Joining a Group, and Serving. We highlighted that Next Steps pathway very prominently on the website, so people could easily take their next step into community.
Once the online presence and funnel were in place for both new visitors and existing members to easily get connected with Storypoint Church, we shifted our focus to Google Ads and Search Engine Optimization, to multiply the church’s reach when people in their community Google “church near me”.
The Results
Leah took a half-hearted and ignored part of our ministry and totally reshaped it. I gave a few parameters and asked her to use her skills to make us look good and reach new people with our marketing…and she did. The best part is that she is proactive instead of reactive. She looks for things to do for us and she thinks for me so I don’t have to worry about it. I highly recommend you use For the Good Marketing. You won’t be disappointed.
– Jeff Spooneybarger, Storypoint Church4
Jeff was so pleased with his experience, that he reached out to the association his church is a member of and stressed their need to increase access to these types of marketing resources to the churches in their association.
The head of the association5 met with Leah, the founder of For the Good Marketing. They formed a partnership to provide graphic design and marketing support to the churches in their association.
